Film 201: Short Film Project

This course expands upon the 'Introduction to Film & Video' course by focusing on making a short film. Students will go through the process of brainstorming ideas, creating storyboards, scouting locations, filming their scenes, editing filmed footages and exporting their finished film onto DVD and the internet. Through this project, students will learn how to work as a team, take responsibility for specific roles, and gain trust with their project members.

Course duration: 6 weeks

Film 101: Introduction to Film & Video

This workshop introduces students to the world of video filmmaking. The goal of this workshop is to allow the students to explore areas of camera work, lighting setups, film language and video editing. Students will focus on hands-on learning throughout the course of the workshop. By the end of the workshop, students will have a good understanding of the different areas of video filmmaking.

CG 202: Cartoon Character Modeling

This course focuses on cartoon character modeling. Emphasis will be on using few but necessary tools to create organic models, and grasp an understanding of the importance of good polyflow. Creating interesting poses and background to tell a story as important, if not more, than learning the tools to create it. At the end of the course, students will have a good understanding of organic models, and the skills and knowledge to create them.  

Course duration: 16 weeks
Pre-requisite: CG 201: Hard-Surface Modeling

CG 201: Hard-Surface Modeling

This course focuses on hard-surface modeling and texturing. This course builds upon the introduction to 3D class. Emphasis will be on utilizing poly counts, managing scene assets as well as setting up hotkeys and shortcuts to maximize modeling workflow. At the end of the course, students will have learned the process of creating hard-surface models that can be used in a production environment.

Course duration: 16 weeks

CG 101: Introduction to 3D

This course introduces students to the world of computer graphics. The goal of this course is to familiarize the students with using a 3D software. At the end of the course, students will be able to have the basics of creating 3D models, applying shaders and textures to them, setup lights for their scenes and render them for prints.
