Chase employees and community leaders gathered for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on this historic occasion at the Sunset and Vine branch in Hollywood. Chase is investing almost $400 million in refurbishing and rebranding 700 bank branches, 1,900 ATMs and opening 20 more Chase branches this year. Chase Plans to become more “Eco friendly” by refurbish the branches in California using high efficiency HVAC and lighting systems, low irrigation plant landscaping, solar reflectance, recycled materials in walls, floors and ceilings, and Energy Star appliances. |

The Expo drew local restaurants, service companies, businesses and organizations and with some 100 booths there was a great opportunity to network with local business and organizations. This year’s theme was “Go Green”, in line with the city of Los Angeles City Council’s decision to make L.A. a “Green City” and there were many creative booths showing a commitment to taking care of the environment of the city. |

February 7, 2009The Women’s Club of Hollywood honors world famous actress and long time activist, Tippi Hedren with ‘When a Woman Wills, She Will!’ awardThe Women's Club of Hollywood honors world famous actress and longtime activist, Tippi Hedren, on February 7, 2009, with the 'When a Woman Wills, She Will!" award for her lifetime achievements in human and animal rights. Tippi Hedren, known most notably for her role in the Alfred Hitchcock film, The Birds, and work with Charlie Chaplin, now devotes her time and resources to the Shambala Preserve as a "Den Mother" to over sixty big cats and through "The Roar Foundation" which she founded in 1983 and is currently president. She has also been the volunteer International Relief Coordinator for "Food for the Hungry" where she traveled worldwide to set up relief programs following earthquakes, hurricanes, famine and war. Tippi spoke for nearly two hours to the capacity crowd at the luncheon while her photographer Bill Dow showed slides of her acting career as well as the big cats of the Shambala Preserve. |

The Jewish World Watch provides humanitarian relief to regions that are desperately in need and often times risk their lives doing so. Norma Foster, President of the United Nation’s Association-USA Pacific-Los Angeles Chapter was on hand to present the Eleanor Roosevelt Award to the Janice Kaminer Reznik for the outstanding work of the Jewish World Watch. |

December 20, 2008The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Presents Free Screening of “Scrooge” at Grauman’s Egyptian TheatreThe Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the American Cinamatheque held the second annual holiday “gift” to the community on December 20th at the Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. Over 100 people lined up for a free screening of the 1970s holiday classic “Scrooge” starring Albert Finney. Everyone in line was treated to complimentary hot chocolate and were entertained by musical soloist, Laura Nomoto and duet Janna and Danielle, who sung holiday classics. |

December 10, 2008United Nations Human Rights Day and 60th Anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights In Little Tokyo, Downtown Los AngelesIn recognition of the Dec. 10th United Nations Human Rights Day, prominent city officials including Japanese Consul General Junichi Ihara and Isaac Burks, the Arts and Culture Deputy to Councilman Tom LaBonge of the 4th District, gathered at the Chiune Sugihara, the Japanese Consul General to Lithuania during WWII who saved thousands of Jews from the Holocaust, memorial in Little Tokyo in downtown Los Angeles. International star of film, TV and theatrical arts, Shingo Misawa was welcomed to the city by Consul General Ihara and presented with a congratulatory certificate signed by Councilman Tom LaBonge and Los Angeles Mayor, Antonio, R. Villaraigosa for having received the Eleanor Roosevelt Award in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. |
